Melissa Castro was elected Coral Gables City Commissioner in April 2023. She is a result driven leader who is committed to her community.

A graduate of Florida International University, Castro received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a specialization in applied behavior analysis and a master’s in industrial organizational psychology. Her expertise is in understanding human and business behavior and has more than 12 years of training in the field.

Due to her mother’s untimely death in September 2020, Castro left her career to lead her permit expediting business, M.E.D. Expediters. She has had great success in growing the business.

She resides in Coral Gables with her two children.
