Traffic calming and other projects

The city has an ongoing program to install traffic calming devices, repair sidewalks, and stripe and resurface roads.

This week the speed table in the 1000 block of Venetia Terrace is being finalized with the 500 block of Majorca Ave. scheduled for the week of Nov. 14.

At the same time, concrete crews will finalize sidewalk replacement work on the 1400 block of Ferdinand St. and begin replacing sidewalks between the 800 and 1000 blocks of Ferdinand St. as well as between the 800 and 1000 blocks on Lisbon St. Resurfacing and striping of the intersection of Granada Blvd. and North Greenway Drive began this week.

“Each week there are ongoing projects to maintain the aesthetics of our city, as well as to continue the traffic calming program developed together with our residents,” said Hermes Diaz, Public Works director.

In addition, the city is installing new landscape and an irrigation system between Miracle Mile and Menores St. As part of the scope, Ficus green island, an aggressive growing shrub is being removed and is being replaced with greater variety and lower maintenance groundcovers that will remain at a maximum height of 24-inches for visibility and safety.
